Manta Diablo, Puerto Del Carmen
by diversinc
on Aug 09, 2009
264 Views - 2 Comments Whilst diving a site called Waikiki off Puerto Del Carmen beach, Lanzarote, we encountered a Manta Ray or Manta Diablo, by its Spanish name. It was at 28 metres. It came in to have a look at us 3 times, before we had to carry on with the dive plan. It was like a small airplane. It spanned about 4 metres. This also includes some footage from the MV Tenderete. It's the wreck of a fishing boat about 26 metres long, purposely scuttled for diving near to the harbour entrance at Puerto Calero. Not much life on it yet. It lies upright on the seabed. The bottom of the hull is at 26 metres and all hatch covers have been removed to allow penetration of the rear and forward holds. |

Squalo Diving, Lanzarote
by diversinc
on Aug 01, 2009
125 Views - 0 Comments This is the promotional video for Squalo Diving in Puerto Calero, Lanzarote. I've dived with them twice and they are excellent. I also dived with the cameraman who made this, the day after I managed to film a manta diablo. So I'm still negotiating a price with him for the footage! Looking to put a trip together for next year to Lanzarote, so take a look at the video. It provides a great insight into the diving locations and flora and fauna. |

on Apr 13, 2009
190 Views - 3 Comments The loch is a wide sided gully with a coarse sandy bottom, which is home to a wide variety of hermit crabs, flat fish and starfish. The steep walls with deep fissures and ledges also house Norwegian squat lobsters and in the early season (march to may ), male lumpsuckers can sometimes be found diligently guarding the eggs that have been laid by the larger female. |
